A 100-bed shelter for the homeless urban poor will be constructed at the ISBT in Sector 43 here. This was stated by Pujnab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore while addressing an MC House meeting here today.

Badnore said the trial run for bringing additional 29 MGD of water from Kajauli had been successfully completed on August 27 and the city would get the additional supply by the last week of September.

On fund crunch being faced by the civic body, he said, “The MC has taken various steps to improve its financial position. The UT Administration has provided it a grant-in-aid of Rs 375 crore this year against Rs 269 crore given a year before. For further improving its financial condition, two new petrol pump sites were allotted and 28 unipole sites were approved for it.”

“The long-pending demand of revenue sharing as per the recommendations of the 4th Delhi Finance Commission has been forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs for acceptance. The MC will start getting more money from the UT revenue as and when the approval is received from the ministry,” he said.

The UT Administrator said soon, the city would achieve the ODF++ status.

Mayor seeks Rs 200 cr for held-up works

In his address, Mayor Rajesh Kalia requested UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore to provide one-time grant for various held-up projects. The Mayor sought Rs 93 crore for construction and recarpeting of roads,  Rs 50 crore for overall development of UT villages, Rs 38 crore for raising water storage capacity and Rs 19 crore for construction of public toilets.
