Chandigarh, December 3

One person was killed while two others, including a woman, were injured after an LPG cylinder caught fire following leakage of gas at a house in Maloya here today.

The police said Sursati, a housewife, had changed the cylinder in the morning. However, gas was leaking from it. In the afternoon, a cylinder delivery van arrived at her house to deliver a cylinder.

Sursati asked the delivery boy, Baljeet, to check the gas regulator. Baljeet checked the cylinder and regulator and asked Sursati to turn on the gas stove.

The police said as Sursati turned on the gas stove, the gas present in the room sparked an explosion. Both Sursati and Baljeet received burn injuries.

The explosion broke the door of the house, which fell on a pedestrian, Lekh Raj, who was crossing from outside the house. The police were informed and a fire engine rushed to the spot.

While Sursasti was admitted to the GMSH-16, Baljeet and Lekh Raj were admitted to the PGI, where Lekh Raj died.
