1,700 cops to keep close vigil

CHANDIGARH:Around 1,700 police personnel will be deployed in the city to prevent any untoward incident on Diwali.

Around 1,700 police personnel will be deployed in the city to prevent any untoward incident on Diwali. Police officials said all area DSPs, SHOs, police station staff and additional force from the IRB would be deputed in the city. 

Around 60 PCR vehicles will also be stationed at key locations. The operation cell will keep a close vigil in areas. 

Foot patrolling in markets will be ensured, said a police official. Special teams will be deployed at the ISBT in Sector 17 and 43. The police will be present in the markets till late evening on Diwali. — TNS
