0001 fetches Rs 4.10 lakh

Chandigarh: The much-sought-after number 0001 was sold for Rs 4,10,000 in the e-auction of vehicle registration numbers of the CH 01 BP series, which concluded this evening.

In the last auction, the same number was sold for Rs 5,01,000. The RLA earned nearly Rs 54 lakh from the auction of the 218 numbers.

A businessman, Joginder Pal Sharma, has gifted the 0001 number to his son Rajneesh Sharma.  Delighted over getting the number, Rajneesh said they  bought the  number for his Mercedes,  which was also gifted to him by his father on his birthday. Rajneesh said they were determined to get the number at any cost.  The 0009 number fetched the second-highest amount of Rs 3,11,000.  The 0005 number was sold for Rs 2,51,000  while the other  numbers were sold as follows: 0002 (Rs 1,38,000), 0003 (Rs 1,55,000), 0004 (Rs 85,000), 0006 (Rs 61,000), 0007 (Rs 2,30,000) 0008  (Rs 1,30,000) and 0010 (Rs 1,86,000).  The  reserve  price for 0001 was Rs 50,000 while for other  vanity numbers  up to 10, it was Rs 30,000. This time, all eyes were on the 0001 number, which witnessed a stiff competition among the claimants. The successful bidders will be required to get their vehicles registered as well as deposit the balance bid amount within one month from the date of the auction. —TNS
