‘Thy Work is Done’ — Tribute to Irish playwright at Vivek High

More than 90 Class IX students of Vivek High School, Mohali, staged a play, ‘Thy Work is Done’, at the school auditorium here today.

The play was directed by Nisha Luthra, Head, Indian Operations, Leinster School of Music & Drama-Ireland, and her husband Deepak Luthra. The production was based on the life of Norah Richards, an Irish playwright who founded the expressive Punjabi theatre and drama during her 60-year stay in India. She played a pivotal role in the lives of some renowned Indians such as Indian scientist Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar and legend actor Prithvi Raj Kapoor.

The character of Norah was played by the 14-year-old Anupama Sondhi, who essayed her role to near perfection. The play was laced with Indian-Irish humour which weaved together cultural integration of two countries.

The play was adjudged by Kevin Geoghegan, Head of the International Office, Leinster School of Music & Drama –Ireland.

“Our aim is to provide students with best education and training in theatre. Therefore, we collaborated with Leinster School of Music and Drama, Chandigarh chapter,” said Vikramjit Mamik, Administrator, Vivek High School.
