‘Only students, scribes, writers under attack’

CHANDIGARH:Whether it is Panjab University (PU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) or Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), why are students being targeted by the government? Why our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who boasts of a 56 inch chest, whose left side is Ambani and right side Adani, fears the students?

Whether it is Panjab University (PU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) or Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), why are students being targeted by the government? Why our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who boasts of a 56 inch chest, whose left side is Ambani and right side Adani, fears the students?

This question was raised by former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) and leader of the All-India Students Federation Kanhaiya Kumar, who was in town today.

Kumar was speaking at a programme in the memory of veteran poet Avtar Jandialwi at Punjab Kala Bhawan in Sector 16.

The student leader also attacked BJP. He said, "BJP is not Bharatiya Janata Party but 'Bhartiya Danga Party' as they are experts in riots."

He said, "Only writers, journalists and students who are raising questions against the system are

being attacked. People like Gauri Lankesh, Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare and Dr Kalburgi were raising their voice. So, they were murdered."

He said, "There is responsibility on the shoulders of writers and poets too." While urging writers and poets to work for the society, he said: "If they will also do 'popular' work which is being done by people, then soon our coming generation will forget Bhagat Singh and Kartar Singh Sarabha."

"When the writers had started returning their awards, then PM Narendra Modi's 56-inch chest had got reduced to a mere 3.5 inch. Therefore, a writer's work is to raise questions for the government and not get into a line just to get the award and later to get the post of the Governor."

He said our Prime Minister was talking about ‘Vikas’ (development) but it was actually found in Chandigarh stalking a city girl.

Takes a dig at BJP

Taking a dig at Dera Sacha Sauda controversy and the BJP’s claim of ‘Ache Din’, Kumar said in last few months, media and public were only talking about Honeypreet and ‘Achhe Din’, but both were missing.
