Patiala Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit today paid a surprise visit to the Grain Market in the Samana block to review the wheat procurement process.
The DC strictly ordered the government agencies to procure wheat within 24 hours of its arrival in the grain market. He also directed officials to expedite the lifting process.
On the occasion, he held a meeting with the Punjab Mandi Board officials, market committee officials, procurement agencies and commission agents.
The DC advocated the use of moisture meters at the entry of mandi itself.
They (officials) should make sure that wheat with required moisture content only reaches the grain market so that farmers do not face any harassment.
