Chandigarh, April 25

Private carrier Vistara airlines is looking to introduce more flights and work in collaboration with Taj Hotels to promote tourism in Punjab.

With five more planes in its fleet, the airline sees a huge potential to connect Punjab with many more cities and countries. At present, it connects Delhi with Amritsar.

Vistara CEO Phee Teik Yeoh today met Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. The Vistara team proposed working with the state government to project Punjab as a key tourist destination and suggested the signing of an MoU in this regard, a Punjab Government spokesperson said.

Vistara could work with Taj Hotels, also owned by the Tata Group, to push tourism in the state in a big way, the CEO said, suggesting that the MoU could help target other foreign airlines to promote Punjab in select foreign countries.

The CM responded positively to the suggestion by welcoming Vistara’s interest in promoting the state as a tourist destination.

He suggested introduction of direct flights from Chandigarh to Singapore. The Vistara team also stressed the importance of working in coordination with roadways and railways to promote religious tourism in Punjab.
