New Delhi, October 18

Oil firms today decided to defer snapping fuel supplies to Air India after it promised to adhere to the schedule of clearing past outstanding dues, officials said.

Indian Oil Corp, Bharat Petroleum Corp and Hindustan Petroleum Corp had on October 5 written to Air India that they will stop supplying ATF to its aircraft at six major airports from October 18 if it didn’t honour its payment commitments.

Air India owes the three firms over Rs 5,000 crore in past fuel bills and had agreed to pay this amount in monthly instalments but failed to honour its commitment. — PTI
