Khattar tells GAIL to move forward on pipeline project

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has asked the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) to explore the possibilities to move forward the proposal of a gas pipeline in the state.

He was addressing the officers present during a presentation given by GAIL here today. He said the 21st century would be of knowledge and industry and natural gases play an important role in industrial development.

The Chief Minister was informed that GAIL has 540 km-long pipepline in the state. In future, GAIL has a target to set up clusters of natural gas in Yamunanagar-Jagadhari, Manakpur, Bawal and Manesar, thus increasing it to 800 km by 2018 and it would produce 10 billion mmscmd of gas. At present, Dadri-Bawana-Nangal, Chainsa-Jhajjar-Hisar Phase-1 and Chainsa-Gurgaon is one line. GAIL has 43 natural gas, 40 petro chemicals and 18 liquid hydrocarbon consumers in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rewari and Jhajjar in which a total investment of Rs 2,500 crore has been made.

GAIL contributes Rs 126 crore in the form of tax which would be increased to Rs 200 crore by 2018. The Chief Minister has assured full cooperation in pursuing the proposal of GAIL.
