To address the rising concerns of deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR Region due to stubble burning, CII in partnership with NITI Aayog and other northern states will work towards formulating action plan to improve the air quality.

“We have recently submitted a report ‘Cleaner Air Better Life Initiative’ to find out solutions to air pollution in a holistic manner by collaborating with different stakeholders who are part of common air-shed in Delhi. On a pilot basis, we are working with the Delhi government to create awareness about air pollution. We intend to work with various northern states and NITI Aayog to increase awareness, suggest measures and policy formulation to discourage stubble burning, especially in Punjab and Haryana,” said Sachit Jain, chairman, CII Northern Region and managing director, Vardhman Special Steels Ltd.

In the year 2018-19, in addition to its on-going programmes, CII Northern Region would focus on tourism, as the entire northern region has a huge scope to become a hub for tourism. Apart from that, the focus would be on quality of education, faculty development programmes and curriculum development etc.

Sameer Gupta, deputy chairman, CII Northern Region, said they will work towards strengthening the skilling ecosystem in the region.
