Airtel today joined the bandwagon of telecom operators unveiling reduced call and data rates in a bid to not only retain their customers but also to take on the new entrant Reliance Jio.

BSNL and Aircel have already launched offers of unlimited local and STD calls besides free data usage at a recharge plan of Rs 149.

Airtel today unveiled unlimited voice calls and more 4G data under a new plan, where for Rs 345, its users will be allowed to make unlimited calls to any network and 1GB 4G data for 28 days.

Under a separate plan of Rs 145, users will get 300 MB of 4G data and unlimited calls within Airtel network for 28 days.

Meanwhile, Idea Cellular also launched two schemes today to provide free calls to its pre-paid customers bundles with limited mobile internet service.

"Priced around Rs 148 and Rs 348, these packs provide the customers with unlimited voice calls to anywhere in India, along with data benefits," Idea said.

Upon recharging with Rs 148, Idea customers will be able to make free Local and STD Idea-to-Idea calls across India and get 50MB of data. Customers with 4G handsets will get 300 MB of data in addition to voice benefit, the statement said. The Rs 348 scheme will offer free Local and STD calls across all networks in India along with 50MB of data.
