Chandigarh, January 3

Mobile operator Aircel will shut down its operations in Himachal Pradesh from the midnight of January 31. The move is likely to impact around 1 million subscribers.

In a message to the subscribers, Aircel and Dishnet Wireless Ltd said: “Aircel is closing its mobile services in Himachal Pradesh. Please port out your number to other operator to enjoy uninterrupted services.”

It has also informed the subscribers of Dishnet Wireless Ltd to exhaust the remaining balance, if any, in their respective accounts on or before the midnight of January 31.

Sources said Aircel is surrendering its licence in Himachal Pradesh circle along with five others, citing difficulty to do business in the prevailing intensely competitive environment.

Telecom regulator TRAI has directed Aircel to issue mobile number porting code to its subscribers for moving out of its network and reject none of the requests.
