Woman suffers 40% burns

BATHINDA: A 20-year-old woman received burn injuries in an accidental fire that occurred at the grain market on Thursday afternoon. The woman has been identified as Manisha, who is undergoing treatment at the local Civil Hospital.

BATHINDA: A 20-year-old woman received burn injuries in an accidental fire that occurred at the grain market on Thursday afternoon. The woman has been identified as Manisha, who is undergoing treatment at the local Civil Hospital. According to sources, Manisha was playing with a match box and suddenly, all match sticks were up in flames. Her clothes also caught fire. Residents nearby doused the flames and took her to the hospital. According to doctors, she had suffered 40 per cent burn injuries. The police have started a probe into the matter. TNS

10 held under Gambling Act

BATHINDA: The Canal Colony police arrested 10 persons under the Gambling Act from the Multanian road and seized Rs 13,340. A case under Sections 13, 3 and 67 of the Gambling Act has been registered against the accused. The arrested accused have been identified as Amandeep Singh, Harinder Singh, Simranjeet Singh, Nathu Ram, Pankaj, Rahul, Chanan Singh, Sher Singh, Gurtej Singh and Baldev Singh, residents of Bathinda. Devinder Singh, SHO of the Canal Colony police station, said a case had been registered and the accused were released on bail. TNS

One killed in road accident

BATHINDA: A person was killed in a road accident that took place at Behman Diwana village after a truck hit a cycle on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Hakam Singh, a resident of Balluana village. The Bathinda Sadar police have booked unidentified driver of the truck Sections 304-A, 279 and 427 of the IPC on the statement of Gurcharan Singh, a resident of Balluana. According to Gurcharan, his brother Hakam Singh was going back home when the speeding truck hit him in the rear. He was injured seriously and taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. — TNS
