Bathinda, November 9

A city woman identified as Pallavi (30) died of suspected dengue on Friday at the PGI in Chandigarh. She was a resident of the Amrik Singh road area.

As per information, she was suffering from fever. Her family members took her to a private hospital where medical tests confirmed that she was suffering from dengue.

As her condition deteriorated and platelet count went down, her family took her to the PGI, where she breathed her last.

The number of dengue cases is rising day by day in the district. On Friday, the number of confirmed dengue cases reached 477.

According to the Health Department, the cases of dengue are more prevalent in the city as compared to rural areas.

A Health Department official said the figures might be high as some people would have preferred to go to major towns for treatment or testing.

Meanwhile, a visit to various parts of the district presented a sorry state of affairs. The garbage was lying strewn, proving to be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
