Woman alleges rape, father-son duo booked

BATHINDA: The Canal police have booked the brother-in-law and father-in-law of a married woman for allegedly raping her.

The Canal police have booked the brother-in-law and father-in-law of a married woman for allegedly raping her. The accused have been identified as Baldev Singh and Baljit Singh, residents of the Multania Road area.

The police said efforts were on to arrest the accused.

ASI Jaswinder Kaur, posted at the Canal police station, said the medical examination of the victim had been conducted and on the basis of it, a case under Sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against the accused.

The ASI said, “We have registered a case against the accused and we are making all-out efforts to arrest them at the earliest.”

The victim in her complaint to the police stated that on May 22 following an altercation, the accused had beaten up her husband who was hospitalised.

The complaint said on May 23 when she had gone to take her husband’s clothes, the accused took her inside a room and raped her.
