Water supply remains hit for 2nd day

The water supply in around 70 per cent areas in the city remained affected for the second day as well as 10 million gallon capacity Rose Garden water works developed power fuse fault again on Sunday.

While secondly, valve of main pipe line blasted, which connects the water tank located in Kamla Nehru colony near the Bathinda-Barnala bypass road. Due to which water supply in various areas remained closed for the second consecutive day.

Both the incidents have created havoc in water works and Triveni Company officials, which immediately reached at the spot and started repairing the faults. Residents today also faced huge problems due to not getting water supply.

The areas which remained affected today were Gol Diggi, Mall road, Amrik Singh road, Barnala road, Namdev road, Ganesha Nagar, Teacher Colony, Kamla Nehru Colony, Paras Ram Nagar, Lal Singh Nagar, Santpura road, Shakti Nagar, Mittal Mall road, Teacher Colony, Partap Nagar, Hans Nagar, Amarpura Basti, Sanjay Nagar, Model Town, Veer colony, Sukhpeer road and various other areas.

Water supply department SDO Ravi Kumar said after resolving the fault the water supply in more than half of the areas in the city have been started, while it is expected that repairing work at water works in Kamla Nehru colony would be completed by late evening and water supply would be started from there by tonight.

It is pertinent to mention that area which were affected due to fault in Kamla Nehru colony water works areas Kamla Nehru Colony, Bharat Nagar, Baba Farid Nagar, Patel Nagar, Bibiwala road, North Estate, Chandsar Basti.

Officials said due to high temperature and high power load only we have faced the problem at main water works, but now it has been permanently resolved. From the three water works in the city, the 115 lakh gallon water is consumed daily. In which Rose Garden water works had the highest capacity water works of 10 million gallon water.
