Bathinda, January 12

Accusing the state government of not providing jobs, members of the Unemployed BEd Teachers’ Union carried out a protest march here on Saturday.

Raising slogans, the protesters demanded that the vacant posts in schools must be filled at the earliest. In a symbolic protest against government’s “indifferent” attitude, the protesters burnt an effigy of state government’s “bundle of excuses” to mark the Lohri festival.

Sukhwinder Singh, president of the union, said, “The Congress has failed to deliver its pre-poll promises. Immediately after coming to power, it started snatching jobs instead of providing jobs to the unemployed youth.”
