Bathinda: Two students of the Baba Farid Group of Institutions brought laurels to the college by cracking the UGC-NET examinations. Yashpreet Phool, a third semester student of MA (Punjabi), and Sukhmandar Singh, a student of MCom-II, cleared the NET exam this year. Seminar on Ayurveda
Bathinda: The National Ayurveda Students and Youth Association organised a seminar on the applied aspects of the ‘Panchkarma’ therapy at Kot Shamir village here on Saturday. As many as 120 students and around 50 doctors and practitioners of Ayurveda from Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan attended the seminar. TNS
Two booked for smuggling liquor
Bathinda: The police have booked two persons for smuggling liquor. The accused have been identified as Lakshmi Narayan, a resident of Mehna Chowk and Bal Krishan, a resident of Haryana. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act has been registered against the accused. The police raided the Pokhar Mal canteen and arrested Lakshmi Narayan with 18 bottles of Haryana-made liquor. One held with illicit liquor
Bathinda: The Rama Mandi police have arrested a person with 36 bottles of Haryana-made illicit liquor. The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh of Pakka Kalan. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act has been registered against him. TNS
Three held with intoxicants
Bathinda: The police have arrested three persons with intoxicants. In the first case, Gurmail Singh and Nirmal Singh, both residents of Bambiha village, were arrested with 19 bottles of cough syrup and 190 Carisoma tablets. The accused were also found to be travelling on a motorcycle with a number plate. The police seized the vehicle as well. In another case, the Thermal police arrested Shiv Kumar, a resident of Paras Ram Nagar, with 1,000 Calvidol tablets and 70 more intoxicating tablets. A case under Sections 22/61/85 has been registered against the accused. TNS
