Three held with fake currency notes

The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested three persons with fake currency of new and old notes from the Bathinda railway station.

GRP police station SHO Harjinder Singh said SI Jagdish Chander, with the team, was conducting a check at the railway station when they received a tip-off that two persons were roaming there with fake currency notes.

The team nabbed the two accused from platform number 7.

The accused have been identified as Malu Ram and Rakesh. The police have seized Rs 1,100 from them out of which Rs 500 was fake currency prepared with the help of a computer printer.

The SHO said during interrogation, the accused revealed that they had taken the fake notes from Paramjit Singh alias Bhola, a resident of Faridkot.

Thereafter, the police arrested Paramjit Singh from Faridkot and seized a computer, colour scanner, printer, one note of Rs 2,000, six notes of Rs 500 and one note of Rs 100 from his possession.

SHO Harjinder said accused Paramjit Singh ran a photo studio called Smile Studio in Faridkot.

He uses to make fake notes of Rs 100 and was using them to buy vegetables or to pay for fuel.

A case under Sections 489 B, 489 C and 489 D has been registered against the accused at the GRP police station Bathinda.
