Teams out in field to enrol child beggars in schools

Following the directions of the Punjab Government, the district administration of Mansa today conducted a survey of out-of-school and dropout children in Budhlada. The teams visited slum areas and interacted with children and their parents.

Sharing details about the survey, District Education Officer (Elementary) Kulbhushan Singh Bajwa said as per the orders of Mansa Deputy Commissioner Dharampal Gupta, a team surveyed children engaged in begging and residing in slum areas in Budhlada.

The parents of these children were also motivated to send the children to school.

Bajwa said as part of the campaign, the areas where the child beggars live were being identified and teams were visiting there to get the children enrolled into schools.

On Wednesday, seven children were identified who need to be enrolled into schools. The team volunteers were directed to follow up the cases of these children.

The DEO added that during interaction, the parents are also being told about various social welfare and scholarship schemes that the children can avail while studying in schools.

The parents were also told that the children will be given uniforms, books and meals free of cost till Class VIII as part of the Central government scheme to motivate them to send their children to schools.
