The District Olympic Association (DOA) of Muktsar on Friday announced to hold the first season of the DOA Basketball Tournament 2018 from July 5.

The four-day event is being organised under the Tandarust Punjab campaign to give a message to the people to stay healthy.

The matches would be held at basketball stadiums in Muktsar, Gidderbaha, Badal and Malout.

“The DOA aims to channelise the energy of young sporting talent. They can get a chance to discover their sports potential,” said Sumeet Jarangal, Deputy Commissioner, Muktsar.

He added that the tournament would be officiated by a team of referees and officials from the Basketball Federation of India

The final match would be held at the basketball stadium in Muktsar.

The DOA announced that the top three winning teams would get prize money of Rs 50,000, 30,000 and 20,000, respectively. The best player of the tournament would get prize money of Rs 10,000, and there would be trophies and medals for all winners.

The participants would be given all support with medical teams, first-aid, food and refreshment. All players would be honoured with a certificate of participation.

The event would be dedicated to the vision of Tandarust Muktsar.

This event is in continuation of the DOA’s previous event of Muktsar Marathon organised recently, which was attended by nearly 10,000 people.
