Bathinda: Baba Farid Senior Secondary School organised 'Summer Carnival-2018' at Baba Farid Group of Institutions in order to motivate and build self-confidence of the students. Various competitions like mehndi application, turban tying, poster-making and best out of waste were conducted. In addition to various competitions, physics, chemistry, biotechnology, agriculture and engineering departments of BFGI arranged a science exhibition in which exhibits of live projects, models and products were displayed. BFGI chairman Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal congratulated the contestants for their zeal and added that it was the need of the hour to polish the talent of students by conducting various activities.  TNS

World Environment Day 

Bathinda: The Punjab Pollution Control Board on Friday organised a slogan writing and painting competition at Police Public School to observe World Environment Day. As many as 30 students of the school participated in the competitions. PPCB assistant environment engineer Ravipal stated that this year the theme of the World Environment Day is "Beat the Plastic Pollution" and that this year India is the worldwide host for the day. Students were told about the ill-effects of the use of plastic and ways of replacing plastic in everyday life. School principal Monica Singh also motivated students to curb the use of plastic. TNS

Mother, Father Day observed

Bathinda: Parents of preparatory classes of Delhi Public School were invited to the school campus to participate in the celebration of Mother's and Father's Day. Students expressed their love and respect for their parents through slogans and poem recitation and dance performances. Many fun games were also organised for parents and the winners of the games were felicitated. School principal Dr Arun Jee addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the students and participation of parents. The programme culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by school in-charge Jaspreet Kaur. TNS

Students shine in varsity exams

Bathinda: Two students of SSD Women Institute of Technology have brought laurels to the institute by making a place for themselves in the Punjabi University merit list. In MCA (first year), Harpreet Kaur bagged the fourth position in university by scoring 91.30 per cent marks. MCA final year student Anjali Goyal bagged the ninth position by scoring 85.3 per cent marks. Principal of the institute Dr Neeru Garg congratulated the students and their parents on their achievements. TNS
