The Canal Colony police today found a suicide note of Jasbir Singh, a resident of Gopal Nagar, who ended his life yesterday by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his home.

Preliminary probe revealed that Jasbir Singh (28) had been under stress for the past few months because he had no child even some years of marriage.

His father and brother today reached the shop in Gopal Nagar where he worked as an electrician.

His brother claimed that he found a letter from the shop in which Jasbir wrote about the reasons behind committing suicide.

The family immediately handed over the suicide note to the police. Inspector Devender Singh, SHO of the Canal Colony police station, confirmed the development.

According to the SHO, Jasbir Singh has mentioned in the letter that his “in-laws were responsible for his death as they were misguiding his wife”.

Dharam Singh, investigating officer, said the suicide note would be sent to FSL (Forensic Science Lab) for matching it with Jasbir’s handwriting. Incidentally, the police had found nothing from his room.

On the other hand, another youth today committed suicide in Arjun Nagar by hanging himself from a tree. The deceased has been identified as Lachman Kumar (19), a migrant labourer.

He was living with his relatives in Parasram Nagar and was a street vendor. His body was found early in the morning.

The Canal Colony police have started investigation. The post-mortem was conducted at the Civil Hospital.

The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the suicide. It’s the 11th suicide in Bathinda in the past one week.
