Experts dwell on new trends in computer science & engineering

A two-day national conference sponsored by TEQIP – II, a project awarded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development on the topic ‘Upcoming Trends in Computer Science and Engineering’, and jointly organised by the department of computer science and engineering and the department of computer applications at Giani Zail Singh Punjab Technical University Campus, began today. The conference was inaugurated by Prof MK Mahajan, Director, Advanced Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment and Research Institute, by lighting a lamp.

He talked about the role of computational techniques in medical science and also emphasised on fighting against cancer. He briefly told about the research being done by their organisation to fight against cancer He said the merger of computational science with medical science could do wonders.

The delegates and dignitaries were welcomed by Prof Abhilasha Jain, cordinator of the conference. She emphasised on the latest trends in computer science and engineering.

Campus director and the chairman of the conference Prof Jasbir Singh Hundal welcomed the dignitaries and delegates. He highlighted the importance of the theme of the conference.

The institute organised the conference to provide a platform to researchers, academia and students to exchange their ideas and research findings on computer science and its applications. More than 150 research papers were received from various parts of India for the conference.

After a careful scrutiny and peer review, 95 papers were selected to be published in International Journal of Engineering Sciences. The abstract print proceedings were released by the eminent guests during the inaugural session. Dr HK Sardana, Chief Scientist, Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, shared his views during the inaugural session as a keynote speaker. He spoke on the topic “Computational Study-New VISTAS”. He said to maintain its competitive edge in the field, greater emphasis should be laid on basic research in computer science.

Prof Sanjay Bhatnagar, co-coordinator of the conference, thanked all the participants for their contribution and participation in making the conference successful.
