Student beaten up by teacher

BATHINDA: The police have booked a PTE teacher of a school for allegedly beating up a Class VIII student for allegedly throwing a cold drink on his classmate.

BATHINDA: The police have booked a PTE teacher of a school for allegedly beating up a Class VIII student for allegedly throwing a cold drink on his classmate. Later, the student was admitted to the Civil Hospital. The student has been identified as Kamaldeep Singh (15), a resident of Dunewala village of Sangat Mandi. He is studying at Shri Guru Harikrishan Public School. During lunch break, as Kamaldeep opened the cap of a cold drink, it hit another student Husanpreet. Upon noticing the incident, the PTE teacher came and allegedly thrashed him. The boy’s uncle Satnam Singh said upon noticing injuries marks on Kamaldeep’s body, they took him to the Civil Hospital and got him admitted there. He said the police must take strict action against the accused. TNS

Cellphone seized from jail 

BATHINDA: Security arrangements at the Central Jail have once again come under scanner following the recovery of a cellphone from the jail located at Gobindpura village. A check was carried out by the jail authorities on Friday. The deputy jail superintendent, in a complaint filed at the Nathana police station, has stated that the authorities launched a search operation inside the jail and recovered a mobile phone from jail inmate Satpal Singh, a resident of Dhingar village. Investigating officer Ramandeep Singh said a case had been registered against the jail inmate under Section 188 of the IPC on the basis of the complaint lodged by the deputy jail superintendent. TNS
