Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Nanak Singh assumed office on Saturday in Bathinda. He replaced Naveen Singla (IPS), who has been transferred and posted as AIG (SB-I), Mohali.

Dr Nanak Singh held a meeting with SP and DSP rank officials in which he asked the police officers to work with transparency and on merit.

The Senior Superintendent of Police said his priority would be to solve the traffic problems of the city.

The anti-social elements would not be spared and care will be taken that the common man does not face any problems, the SSP added.

The SSP added that curbing drugs would be on his radar. Being an inter-state border district, liquor smuggling is prevalent but the police would do everything to check it, he added. He was earlier posted as SSP, Faridkot.

He would hold a meeting with all SHOs of the district on Monday in which he will issue instructions regarding further strategy to curb rising crime.
