Water accumulation due to choked sewers near the district courts complex area has been causing a lot of inconvenience to commuters as well as visitors to the courts and mini-secretariat for the past three days.

Commuters were seen wading their way through the knee-high water to reach their respective destinations.

Hundreds of visitors who come to the district courts complex and mini-secretariat for official work have to battle their way through the waterlogged road.

They rued that the problem of waterlogging in posh localities as well as near government offices had become a usual affair, but like previous years, the Municipal Corporation has failed to take any corrective measures.

Harjot Singh, an advocate, said, “Waterlogging on this road has been a common affair for the past many years but authorities concerned have barely taken any step to solve the problem. Not only advocates subjected to inconvenience, hundreds of clients visiting us are also facing the same problem.”

A visitor outside the mini-secretariat building said, “If the authorities cannot ensure proper sewerage system in posh localities and near the District Administrative Complex, we can very well imagine the plight of the rest of the city. It is high time that the authorities start paying attention to make sure that city residents get basic civic amenities.”

Municipal Commissioner Rishipal Singh said, “I will ask the XEN concerned to solve the problem at the earliest.” — TNS
