Sarkaria kick-starts ‘Tandrust Punjab’ mission in Barnala

Revenue, Water Resources and Mines Minister, Punjab, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, on Tuesday, kick-started “Tandrust Punjab” mission in Barnala district to make residents healthy by taking care of its air and water quality and safe food and ensuring a good living environment.

The Cabinet minister honoured 104 farmers of Barnala district for not setting on fire their crop stubble. He was accompanied by Barnala Deputy Commissioner Dharam Pal Gupta, Barnala SSP Harjit Singh, former MLA of Barnala Kewal Singh Dhillon and former MLA of Mehal Kalan Bibi Harchand Kaur Ghanauri.

Sarkaria said the mission was the dream project of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and was launched to give the best of life to people of Punjab. He said besides the proper monitoring of various departments concerned with the health of residents, the cooperation of common people was also sought for the successful implementation of the campaign.

“Residents of the state should take self resolutions to save nature and its components, including air, water and other valuable resources. All have to plant saplings to bring down the level of pollution,” said Sarkaria.

DC Dharam Pal Gupta said to deal with global warming, residents should come forward and plant trees on their vacant lands. Former MLA Kewal Singh Dhillon also thanked the CM and the Punjab Government for launching much-needed campaign for residents of the state.
