Bathinda, January 13

A heated argument ensued between SAD city president Sudhir Bansal and Congress city president Mohan Lal Jhumba at Hanuman Chowk during a debate.

Both leaders, along with their supporters, had come for a live debate organised by a media channel.

During the debate, both the leaders put forward their party agenda. The SAD leader harped on the development issue and claimed that the SAD-BJP government had undertaken a lot of developmental projects in the city.

The Congress leader contradicted the claim arguing that residents were facing sewage overflow problem in all localities of the city.

As the debate got over, both leaders start shouting at each other and the situation stopped short of getting violent.

Even the traffic police personnel deputed at Hanuman Chowk called the police control room.

DSP (City) HS Mann and Kotwali police station SHO Harbans Singh, along with a police party, reached the spot half an hour after the incident happened and both leaders with their supporters had left the spot.

While talking to Bathinda Tribune, Sudhir Bansal said, “The TV debate was on and supporters from both sides were hooting, which is alright, but Mohan Lal Jhumba made a personal comment on me, to which I objected. This led to a heated argument.”

Mohan Lal Jhumba said the SAD leader was wrongly stating that Manpreet Badal’s supporters had kidnapped their worker.

“Sudhir Bansal also said that Jhumba was not capable to be party president, which was totally unacceptable,” he added.
