Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Praneet has appreciated the Rampura residents for their incentives to tackle the stray cattle menace.
He has appealed to the people to support the volunteers by giving donations for the cause.
He said stray cattle menace was a major problem in Rampura and it was killing people and damaging shops and vehicles.
Irked over which, residents started shifting stray cattle from the city and to the animal market in Rampura. The work is going on from September 2 and at present there are 845 stray cattle which are kept there and being taken care of.
He said a daily expense of Rs 30,000 is being incurred on these stray cattle, which means Rs 9 lakh per month and this is borne by residents of Rampura.
Although, green fodder, rotis and other material of is being provided by residents, but the Nandi Shala Management Committee is short of Rs 3 lakh per month.
Nandi Shala is being run with the help of Rampura residents Rakesh Sahara, Karamjeet Singh, Shashi Raj, Rajinder Jindal, Kewal Krishan Sharma, Satish Kumar and Gora.
