Residents nab, hand over drug peddlers to police

Three suspected drug peddlers were nabbed by residents and handed over to the police at Chahal village in Faridkot. They have been identified as Chamkaur Singh and Gurjant Singh of Mudki in Ferozepur and Ranjit Singh, alias Kala, of Chahal village in Faridkot.

Residents of Chahal village alleged that the accused would come to the village in a car in the evening and used to supply drugs to some youths in the village. On Friday, they nabbed them and handed them over to the police after giving a severe thrashing.

The residents got suspicious of the car reaching the village at a particular time and chased it and nabbed the three accused and found some drugs from their possession. After giving thrashing to the nabbed accused, the residents damaged the car.

The residents said these youths were not involved in illegal drug sale, but also in other criminal activities like theft and dacoity.

The police have registered a criminal case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act against the accused.
