Rare surgery to attach scalp performed in city

BATHINDA: A city-based plastic surgeon, Dr Raman Goyal, conducted a rare surgery of re-attachment of avulsed scalp and forehead and gave a new life to a young girl.

A city-based plastic surgeon, Dr Raman Goyal, conducted a rare surgery of re-attachment of avulsed scalp and forehead and gave a new life to a young girl.

Dr Goyal said the girl, Khushpreet Kaur (9), had met with an accident and her whole scalp and forehead had come off. The patient was taken to a hospital near the accident spot and she was later referred to Cosmo Super-Specialty Hospital for micro vascular repair.

After seeing the patient, they immediately took her up for surgery, which lasted for seven hours. The patient’s scalp was reattached and she has fully recovered now.

Dr Goyal said this type of scalp re-plant was one of the rare plastic surgeries.
