Bathinda: Presiding over a meeting of district administration officials on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait said Mansa would organise Punjab Games Women (U-25) in November for the second consecutive time. Earlier, these games were held in March. During the meeting, she assigned responsibilities to the officials concerned and constituted committees. She said, “Various sports competitions will be held at different venues. Besides, arrangements are being made for the boarding and lodging of women players. Special emphasis is being laid on providing a security cover and medical facilities to the players.” TNS

3 booked for  Rs 6-lakh fraud 

Muktsar: The Muktsar (City) police have booked three persons, including two brothers, for allegedly duping a local resident of Rs 6 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. The complainant, Amritpal Singh of Dashmesh Nagar, told the police that Gurjinder Singh, his brother Sukhjinder Singh, both residents of Guru Angad Dev Nagar here, and Satnam Singh of Sangu Dhaun village had duped him of Rs 6 lakh last year. A case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the suspects. TNS

Student bags wushu gold

Bathinda: A student of Baba Farid College won a gold medal in the Inter-College Wushu Championship organised by Punjabi University, Patiala. Neeru Mittal, a student of BA-II, won the gold medal in the 60 kg category. She has been selected for the inter-university camp. TNS
