The Punjab Khet Mazdoor Sabha has planned to celebrate its golden jubilee in Bathinda on November 24 and 25.
Divulging details about the event, Punjab Khet Mazdoor Sabha general secretary Gulzar Singh and CPI leaders Dr Joginder Dyal, Hardev Arshi and Jagjeet Singh Joga held a press conference at the Bathinda Press Club on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference, they said the Punjab Khet Mazdoor Sabha would celebrate its golden jubilee in Bathinda on November 24 and 25.
On the first day, the sabha has planned to organise a big rally, in which demands of rural and urban poor people would be raised and this rally would be addressed by BKMU general secretary and former MP from Bihar Nagender Nath Ojha, whereas on November 25 an indoor conference and seminar would be organised.
They said the Bharati Khet Mazdoor Union was established in the country in 1968 and 2018 was its golden jubilee, which is celebrated in all the states across the country with much fanfare.
They claimed the organisation had done a great struggle for the SC/ST Act, fought against social injustice and for providing employment, house or plots to poor people.
CPI leaders Joginder Dyal, Hardev Arshi and Jagjeet Singh Joga said though the poor had been subjected to atrocities for a long time, the Modi-led BJP government at the Centre had seen a drastic hike in cases of atrocities on Dalits and backward tribes in the last four years.
They said many welfare schemes started for the poor in the past 70 years had been cancelled by the Modi government one by one.
The CPI leaders said by attacking democratic rights, the BJP government was implementing the RSS agenda in a well-planned manner.
