Bathinda, August 21

Residents of the Arya Nagar street number 2 near Amrik Singh road staged a protest over the opening of commercial godowns in the residential area.

They have written a letter to the Municipal Commissioner in which they have stated that as various commercial godowns had come up in their residential area, they were facing problems as heavy vehicles had started plying in the locality, posing serious threat to their lives.

Even a month ago, a truck rammed into an electric pole and people commuting on the road had a narrow escape.

They said due to this, their children had stopped playing on the roads.

They added that heavy vehicles remained parked in their street, which led to blocking a major part of it. “Earlier, we removed their heavy vehicles from here by calling the police, but they again started parking vehicles on the road,” they said.

Irked over this, residents have installed a divider on the road to stop the entry of heavy vehicles in their street.
