Powercom initiates repair work

To make sure that city residents don’t face any power cuts in the festival session, the Powercom has started maintenance work on a war footing.

Teams of workers headed by supervisors have been constituted to change the outdated wires in some of the residential areas of the city.

These teams will also upgrade transformers and install new electricity polls to ensure that the new high intensity wires do not hang loose due to their weight.

“Wires are being replaced with high intensity wires as the electricity consumption has also increased over the years. We are aiming to cover the entire city under the maintenance work. Residents often complain that wires hang loose during summers. To address the problem, we are also installing more poles to give additional support to the new wires,” said Gagandeep Singla, XEN, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.

Gagandeep Singla added that to make sure that the residents don’t feel inconvenience due to power cuts owing to the maintenance work, the department had released information about the planned power cuts.
