Bathinda, December 8

Around 100 police personnel swooped on the Mansa Central Jail early on Saturday morning to conduct a joint search with the jail authorities. Although no big recovery was made from the inmates, police officials believed it would serve as a deterrent to prisoners who are involved in drugs or keep illegal things with them.

The raid was conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mandhir Singh along with SP Anil Kumar, DSP Simranjit Singh and five SHOs who took part in a surprise check.

SSP Mandhir Singh said “We conducted a surprise check at 5 am. Within a few minutes, police personnel fanned out in the entire jail and searched the barracks. All jail inmates were frisked to check if they were in possession of unauthorised items.”
