Bathinda, October 14

Dalip Singh (75), a resident of Amarpura Basti, has accused the Canal Colony police of inaction in a case in which his son and grandson were allegedly assaulted by some persons on October 8.

Dalip Singh said around 9 pm on October 8 during the Karva Chauth celebrations, around 10 persons from Amarpura Basti came to his home and assaulted his son Jasveer Singh and grandson Sher Singh. He said both were seriously injured.

He lodged a complaint at the Wardhman police chowki that comes under the Canal Colony police station. The complainant said the police had not taken any action so far while his son and grandson were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Bathinda.

Dalip said he had also met the SSP, but no action had been initiated after that. He demanded from senior police official to take strict action against the accused. Dalip said otherwise he would be left with no option but to end his life.

Kulwinder Singh, SHO of the Canal Colony police station, said the matter was under investigation as they had received a complaint from both parties as one of the members of the other party also got injured. They were also waiting for medical reports and after that, they would take action, he added. — TNS
