The Punjab Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association, along with the Police Welfare Pension Association, PSPCL pensioners, PRTC pensioners and senior citizen and pensioner association, on Wednesday staged a protest against the state government on Ambedkar Chowk in front of the District Administrative Complex office.

Association leaders Darshan Singh Maur and Ranjit Singh alleged that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had given them time for meeting many times, but till date no meeting had been held. So, they were perturbed over the working of the state government.

They said on the one hand Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal was claiming that the state government’s coffers were empty, but on the other, money was being spent on MLAs and ministers. The demands of the pensioners were not being fulfilled, they said.

They demanded that the pending DA of pensioners should be released at the earliest, the Pay Commission report implemented, Rs 2,000 more added to medical allowance, police welfare board constituted and pension scheme lying discontinued after 2004 restarted soon.
