PEDA: Comply with energy conservation building code

Executive members of Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) in association with Design2Occupancy conducted a district-level workshop-cum-exhibition in Giani Zail Singh School of Architecture, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, to demonstrate energy efficient building materials.

Makhan Lal, senior manager, PEDA, Bathinda, said, “It is now mandatory to comply with Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) for upcoming buildings having connected load 100 kW or more.”

He gave a descriptive account of the various solar and energy conservation schemes and initiatives taken up by PEDA in generation of power using solar technologies.

Ripudaman Singh, head of architecture department, was the guest of honour at the event who said, “Due to extensive use of energy, global warming is increasing day-by-day. Every domestic and small scale buildings should also come under the scope of Punjab ECBC as these constitute major portion of energy consuming buildings.”

The participants deliberated on new technologies and materials available in the market by the industry experts. Energy Efficient building materials like AAC blocks, hollow blocks, insulation, double-glazed glass, SRI tiles, etc were displayed.
