Under the banner of Tandarust Punjab Mission, a special awareness session was on Saturday organised for giving information regarding measles-rubella (MR) during the parent-teacher meet at St Xavier’s School and Saint Paul High School.
In the seminar, the parents of students were apprised of the measles-rubella diseases. District BCC Narinder Kumar said it was important to provide immunity to children aged between nine months and 15 years against measles and rubella.
He said the mortality rate due to measles-rubella had risen across the country and the campaign was aimed at keeping it in check through vaccination.
Dr Yadwinder, ANM Mamta, LHV and Saint Paul School coordinator Aarti Yadav addressed the parents and told them that earlier also many students were given these injections and no problem was reported by them. Today also the injection was given to 120 students at Saint Paul High School.
Besides, students from the junior and senior wings of St Xaiver’s School were vaccinated. St Xavier’s School principal Father Eulalio Fernandes apprised them of the MR disease and told them that for the better future of their kids, the vaccine was important.
Dr Umesh Gupta said that if parents were ensuring that their children were being vaccinated properly, then their kids could be saved from serious diseases in the future. Dr Kapil Mittal said today around 1,089 students from the junior and senior schools were given this vaccination.
In the session, LHV Rupinder Kaur, Malkit Kaur, ANM Jagdish Kaur, Harjinder Kaur, school teachers Shru Verma, Gurjit Kaur, Rashmi, coordinator Aneeta Rani and others were present.
