Outsiders create ruckus at govt college

Chaos prevailed at Government Rajindra College today when some outsiders entered the college premises and fought with college students.

On being intimated about the scuffle, the college authorities called the police. Officials from the bus stand police post reached the college.

“We received a call from the control room that some outsiders were fighting with students of the college. We rushed to the spot. By the time we reached, the outsiders had fled. Students of the college recognised some of the outsiders and shared the details with us,” said ASI Jaskaran Singh.

He added that based on the information shared by the college students, police teams went to houses of the boys but they were not there.

“Their parents assured us that as soon as the boys would return, they would bring them to the police station,” he said.

After the scuffle, the police personnel checked the identity cards of some of the boys on the premises and caught hold of at least two boys who were not college students.

After it was confirmed that the boys were not involved in the scuffle, they were let off with a warning.

Principal of the college, Sukhraj Singh, agreed that a minor clash between students and outsiders had taken place at the college.

“When I got the information, we called up the police. The security guards also sprung into action. The police recorded statements of some of the students who identified the outsiders,” he said.

He added that the outsiders didn’t enter the college premises from the main gate, but did so by scaling a wall of the college.

Sukhraj Singh said the college had full security as 16 CCTV cameras had been installed.

The security guards at the gate make sure that the identity cards of all those entering the college premises are duly checked so that no anti-social element enters the college premises, he added.
