On Yoga Day, city bends and stretches

BATHINDA: The 3rd International Yoga Day was today celebrated with zeal at various places in the city. A large number of people attended the yoga day event organised by the district administration, in association with Patanjali Yog Samiti, AAN and Swabhiman Trust at Rose Garden.

The 3rd International Yoga Day was today celebrated with zeal at various places in the city.

A large number of people attended the yoga day event organised by the district administration, in association with Patanjali Yog Samiti, AAN and Swabhiman Trust at Rose Garden.

Union Minister of Food Processing and local MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal was the chief guest at the event.

Harsimrat Badal said in context of the challenging lifestyle, it was important for everyone to tone up his/her body through exercise.

The stress and strain of life were more harmful in context of the fast paced life today, she added.

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath, Deputy Comissioner Diprava Lakra, ADC (D) Shena Aggarwal, SDM Sakshi Sawhney, former MLA Sarup Chand Singla and others were present at the event.

As per instructions from the State Education Department, the government schools in the district also celebrated Yoga Day, but the strength of students and teachers was very less.

The police administration also celebrated the day at the Police Lines ground. SSP Naveen Singla was the chief guest at the event.

Yoga session at military station

Chetak Corps organised a mega Yoga session for all Army men and their families at the Bathinda military station.

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Ashwani Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps.

Yoga sessions were also conducted at various institutes and unit locations of Chetak Corps where qualified instructors spread the message of this ancient discipline.

Chetak Corps generated awareness about Yoga being an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition that embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; and a holistic approach to health and well being.

Yoga week at Central varsity

Central University of Punjab (CUP) organised the closing ceremony of the Yoga week, which started from June 14.

In the beginning, the instructor from Chandigarh conducted the yoga session for students, teachers and staff.

After the session, Dr Jubilee welcomed all yoga students and recalled all activities that happened in the Yoga week.

She also shared her personal experience on Yoga with all.
