Muktsar, October 18

To check dengue fever from spreading its tentacles this year, the authorities concerned have issued 59 challans this season after finding dengue larvae in Muktsar district.

Around 33 challans were issued in Malout town, 23 in Muktsar town and three in Gidderbaha town. The municipal councils of these three towns have also done fogging of mosquito repellent in some areas.

Dr Richa, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Muktsar, said, “People should stay alert and keep their surroundings clean. Besides, the district administration has also asked the health authorities and municipal authorities to do fogging of mosquito repellent in the remaining areas.”

However, some local residents said the administration had failed to maintain cleanliness in these towns. “The officials are issuing challans if they find dengue larvae. Besides, they have failed to do their duty diligently in providing a clean atmosphere. They should also be punished for their slack approach,” claimed some local residents.

Meanwhile, Health Department officials have appealed to the public to visit the government hospitals if they have any doubt related to dengue fever. “The treatment is done without any cost,” they said.
