Induction programmes start at Central varsity

Two faculty induction programmes of one-month each commenced at Central University of Punjab. The programmes have been sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) and organised under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching. The event started on June 4 and would continue till July 12.

Around 77 newly-joined faculty members from various colleges and universities were participating in the programmes.

The participants represent diverse cultures of the country, as they come from 13 states, including Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Sikkim, West Bengal, Telangana and Kerala.

Surinderjit Bawa, director of internal quality assurance cell and programme coordinator said the main objective of faculty induction programmes was to impart training in designing course curriculum, efficient use of ICT, develop teaching-learning skills and provide an understanding of academic governance to the participants.

There would be around 95 sessions in each programme.
