Residents of Bhai Ka Kera village today blocked a road and alleged that a person from the same village, who has been posted as a Tehsildar in the Amritsar district, was laying pipes through panchayat land to irrigate his field, without obtaining required permissions.

Kulwinder Singh ‘Kaka’, a SAD leader and resident of Bhai Ka Kera village said, “We had complained to the police and officials concerned. After getting assurance of legal action, we lifted the blockade earlier. As the work resumed, we had to protest again.”

He said: “If the Tehsildar has permission to lay pipes then these should not be laid through the panchayat land. Panchayat has not given approval for this. The pipes pose a risk to a tank installed at waterworks.”

“The Tehsildar is a Congressman. As a result, nobody is acting against him,” he said.
