New cattle pond may come up at Jodhpur Romana village

Congress leaders on Monday held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Praneet over the rising stray cattle problem in the city. In the meeting discussion was held over Finance Minister Manpreet Badal’s proposal to construct a new cattle pond at Jodhpur Romana village.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner asserted that as directed by the Finance Minister the district administration was coming up with a new cattle pond at Jodhpur Romana village in an area of 25 acres of land. Eight acres of which will be used for growing fodder to meet with dietary needs of animals. The cattle pound will also have five sheds. With the construction of cattle pound, the problem of stray cattle will be solved to a larger extent.

Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said, “The stray cattle problem is a serious issue and we are working to resolve this on a priority, the funds for this project has already been allotted and work this would be started very son, we have planned to shift the stray cattle from her to new cattle pound at the earliest”.

He also stated that once this cattle pound is ready, residents will feel the difference on their own in the city. Congress leaders were present in the meeting were Mohan Lal Jhumba, Pawan Mani, Ashok Pradhan, KK Aggarwal, Rajan Garg, Arun Wadhawan and Raj Namberdar taking over the issues of stray animals problem.

It is pertinent to mention that stray cattle roaming around freely have become a serious problem. The situation turns all the more worse at night when it becomes difficult for the drivers to spot the stray animals due to darkness.

Many lives have already been lost and many others have been injured due to accidents involving stray cattle.However, the stray cattle menace is not new in the city. The situation is now getting serious due to the increasing number of cattle. Herds of cows can be easily spotted on various roads and inner parts of the city.

It is worth mentioning that earlier district administration had constructed cattle pond at Harraipur.
