Bathinda, April 29

The police on Monday claimed to have solved the murder case of 27-year-old man with the arrest of three persons. However, the police said three associates of the accused were still in the run.

The accused have been identified as Gurdeep Singh, Lovepreet Singh and Kuldeep Singh. The police said Ram Singh, Amritpal Singh, and Teghvir Singh were yet to be arrested.

Addressing a press conference, SP (City) Jaspal Singh said, “On the night of April 20, five masked men had entered the house Mandeep Singh in Bucho Kalan and thrashed him.”

The SP (City) said Gurdeep Singh had gone to meet Mandeep at his house. According to the police officer, both of them had some arguments over some issues that led to a scuffle.

“Gurdeep made a plan and had again gone to Mandeep’s house and asked his wife to keep the door open as other friends are also coming. Around 11 pm, Ram Singh, Kuldeep, Amritpal, Lovepreet and Teghvir with their faces covered entered the house. Carrying sharp-edged weapons, they thrashed Mandeep and his mother Rani Kaur,” he added.

Later, when the accused fled from the spot, neighbours took Mandeep to Adesh hospital, where he died during treatment. The SP (City) said absconding accused would also be arrested soon.
