Muktsar railway staff quarters get new look

The Muktsar railway station was given a new look before the arrival of northern railway general manager(GM) here on Saturday. A number of new benches were installed, building painted afresh and some paver tiles too were installed.

The GM, who arrived in a special train along with a battery of officers, inspected the railway station, inaugurated the staff quarters and a fountain in the railway station complex. He further inspected the work of ongoing foot over bridge.

A number of local residents welcomed him and handed over memorandums, seeking better facilities.

Sham Lal Goyal, a social activist, said, “We have sought opening of the Abohar-Fazilka railway section for 24 hours, a washing line at Fazilka railway station, railway line between Moga and Kotkapura towns, Sri Ganganagar-Nanded Sahib train to run thrice a week and raised many other demands.”

Meanwhile, some residents of Charewan and Bhagsar villages too met the GM and asked him to provide better facilities at their villages.
